So, this morning was another earlier than usual start, I had to make myself look reasonably presentable to go into Polam Hall this morning to watch the little ones doing their Year 2 SATs.
It is so far removed from the Year 6 experience that there is no special time for them to do it, hence my granddaughter Robyn did hers last week. The children are not even told that they are doing an exam which is how it should be. They are told that they are doing a quiz. To be honest I feel as though testing children this young is not a good thing. Teacher assessments and informal test type work should be the way to go, but that is just my opinion. So I rocked up at Polam at 9 o'clock to be told that I wasn't needed until 10.10, so that was a faux pas on behalf of the exam coordinating team, as they had told no one. So here I am dressed for business back at home writing my blog waiting to go back to school again haha. Whilst I was waiting mum called and asked me to go round to look at her leg, she had been in the shower and the dressings had come loose. I had 30 mins before I had to be back at Polam, so I called round. To be honest I didnt like the look of her leg one of them was still weeping after 5 days so I phoned for the district nurse to come out to look at her leg and take the blood and urine sample she was supposed to have two weeks ago. By the time I returned from Polam the district nurses had been and mums leg was dressed with some very fancy bandages and the nurses will come back next Wednesday to assess progress.
I heard yesterday that my nomadic niece Leanne has accepted a teaching job in a private school in Thailand and will be going back to Chiang Mai to live again at the end of July.
Needless to say, my sister, Sue is devasted that having just got them back living in this country a year ago they are off again. But I don't think Leanne has really settled and the pull back to Thialand has been very strong. Funnily enough, I had an email from my dear friend Karen who reads my blog in South Africa, yesterday she was saying that she was going to visit her daughter in Thailand, I was telling her that it was a place on my bucket list but that I would not now have a chance to visit. But hey I may get the chance to tag along when my sister and brother in law goes out to visit Leanne, that's if they would let me, so you never know.
After the tests this morning I met up with one of the other governors who was also invigilating and we went for a coffee and a sneaky piece of cake to Maggies in Duke Street.
We plumpt for chocolate and guiness cake, I have to say it was delicious.
Tonight I will be ferrying the boys to a party at Ruff and Tumble in Aycliffe.
The birthday boy is in Leightons class but he has a brother in Harrys class.
Now Wednesday evenings is our Mcdonalds treat night so I was always going out and about with the boys anyway. I got a text from Sarah last night to say that Harry would like to go to Ruff and Tumble to play with the birthday boys brother and then I would buy him his tea whilst we wait for Leighton to finish the party. So apart from everything else I am doing today, I received a bag full of party clothes his morning with instructions to iron said clothes before the party haha.
