I used to love World Book Day when I was teaching. I loved dressing up as much as the children haha.
Of course back then you dressed up as a character from a book and also brought said book into school with you.
Nowadays, schools are picking themes, it is supposed to be easier for the parents to dress their children for the event but I am not so sure.
This year Abbey School, where one of my grandsons attends, told the children they had to come as a word.
So, here is Leighton dressed for school this morning. Guess the word....... if you didn't guess duck then Sarah has failed miserably haha.
Here are a few pictures from back in the day when I didn't look so old haha. Rocking dressing up for red nose day, pirates and of course my favourite naughty boy Horrid Henry.
As part of the changes this last week, my children decided that I needed to be brought into the real world, so persuaded me to upgrade my beloved Samsung Android phone to an iPhone 15.
I have to say it was a logistical nightmare as the operating systems from Androids to iPhones is like chalk and cheese.
However, here we are at the end of the first week and I am getting there. I still forget to swipe up instead of left or right and I can't for the life of me get the face recognition to work haha. But like everything else at my age it takes time to compute haha.
On Monday I had my first appointment at the dentist since having my implants in. He was checking to see if the bone had started to integrate with the titanium roots so that my teeth could be made. The good news is that indeed they are ready and so began the process of unscrewing the dust caps off each implant and replacing it with a temporary post that would ascertain the stability of the titanium screw then the impressions would be taken. The top two implants behaved themselves perfectly but when he came to doing the bottom two, well things went a little arye. The right-hand cap came off with no problem but when it came to the left-hand one, the gum had decided to helpfully heal over the top of it, this meant that my dentist had to dig down to get to it. Pretty painful without anesthetic I have to say. But in the end, all impressions have been taken and my new teeth will be in place by the end of March. Then there are a few bits and pieces to complete, a crown and some wear fillings to sort and then the new look mouth will be ready to go.
Okay, I found this next piece interesting and thought you might find it interesting too.
On Tuesday evening I was taken out for my dinner at the Copper Beech. My friend Ian who comes up from the South Coast to visit his dad, was up celebrating his dad's 101 birthday on Thursday. We had a great meal and a cheeky glass of wine (I was driving after all) and covered a sizeable amount of ground with our catch-up chat.
Finally this week, I have been purchasing again. When I moved my kitchen into a bigger room a couple of years ago, my ham-fisted builder did 2 things he ripped the doors off both the dishwasher and the cooker. Both were replaced but have never been the same. The dishwasher was replaced last year and this week it was the turn of the double oven. The seals had not worked since the door debacle so it was not very efficient. Anywho, I have chosen a double oven with a built-in air fryer so we wait to see. It will be coming on Monday.
Okay, here is this week's 6-word teaser
Last week solution
