No comment is needed for this meme today haha.
Today has been given over to the dark arts. I got a text from Sarah early doors asking if I wanted to go to Darlingtons newest attraction, The Pumpkin Patch at Baydale Farms.
Of course, I said yes as there is no show without Punch. So driving down the long drive to the farm from Coniscliffe Road the view of the pumpkin patch was stunning as we rounded a corner.
Spread out over a sizeable field were 100's of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, including white ones and goosebumps ones complete with warts. The set-up was very good with a wheelbarrow park at the entrance and a team of girls weighing and taking payment in the barn. It took about an hour for us to select the pumpkins and once loaded we headed back to Sarah's house to wash and carve our prizes. I have to say the traffic backed up and down Coniscliffe Road is proving a great problem, so glad we went early. After washing the pumpkins we set to work armed with knives and spoons and a large mug of Hot Chocolate each, sometime later we had a wonderful display. My pumpkins have been placed on my doorstep and will help feed the birds and hedgehogs in the weeks to come.
Even Dave the dog got in on the act. Sarah had a recipe from the company that supplies his food to make pumpkin treats for the dog.
So she has cooked and pureed some pumpkin with cinnamon and a few other ingredients and has put it inside his play pong which will be frozen and he will spend hours licking and eating the pumpkin.
So he is the only one that will benefit from the pumpkin flesh. I collected a few of the seeds and will try my hand at growing them next year.
Unfortunately for me, I have pulled the muscle in my hip which I have spent all week settling down, trying to lift a pumpkin into the wheelbarrow. To say that I had tears in my eyes was an understatement. So the rest of this afternoon will be spent resting it, having taken a large dose of Ibuprofen and paracetamol.
