This was Harry this morning. Wants the grades but not the studying. I have to say covid has not been kind to him, as he has forgotten a lot of his basics. So, unfortunately, it is going to be an uphill climb, to get him to a place where he is comfortable with his impending Sat's.
You should have seen his face this morning when he realised that I was picking him up to come to the Jungalow to do an hour of Maths haha.
We spent the hour dissecting each question in turn, trying to teach him how to recognise what it is was they were asking him to do. I have to say the mental gymnastics so early in the day for an out of practice brain like mine were challenging in themselves.
Now I don't know about you but when you have a vivid dream and wake up you can remember it completely for about 30 minutes then it is gone. Well, this morning I was dreaming about a small Chinese boy called Ling Lang haha, and a wish dragon. For some insane reason, I was dreaming the complete plot of a short children's story. I was so impressed with the storyline that I got straight up and committed said story into print. I will let the children read it the next time I see them.
Storm Eunice and Franklin have done a lot of damage to my garden. To be specific my garage roof. When the window cleaner came around today to wash the windows, first of the year, he had to sidestep a large chunk of roof felt that had blown off the garage roof and up the side of the Jungalow. The garden itself is littered with pieces of felt in various sizes. When the weather improves I will get someone to go out and nail it back onto the roof for me. Or I may even go and do it myself.
I have discovered a new chemical wood-burning pen that gives the same effect as burning tools but can be better controlled so that more detail can be added. When it is drawn you simply heat the chemical and it burns the design into the wood. So watch this space for further updates.
