Unreal talent

It wasn't so much of Lord give me strength to study this morning more of Lord give me strength not to strangle my grandson until he got his prepubescent mind on the job in hand.

Over the Easter Holidays, I have committed to Sarah and Lee to tutor Harry for one hour per day on the subjects which he will need shortly to get him through his sats.

So this morning was day one, we had tears, huffing and puffing grunts and groans before final acceptance that as an ex-teacher none of these tactics actually work on me haha. After we had come to an understanding we worked together through a spelling paper, comprehension and maths papers. By the end of the hour, he was receptive and willing to take guidance, I am only hoping for my sake it gets easier as the days go by.

When I took him home I noticed that some idiot had smashed a large glass bottle in the road. So on my way back from dropping Harry off, I decided that I would do the neighbourly thing and remove it the best I could. Having held the traffic up in both directions as I cleared the glass I was showered with thanks from the drivers who live on Sarah's estate. So halo shining and 2 good deeds under my belt I returned home.

Just before lunchtime, I had a visit from Rita and her grandson Billy. Last week I had provided craft materials to Billy so that he could enter a competition at school. For the competition, Billy had to build a diorama of a rainforest. I have to say it was amazing. So it didn't surprise me this morning to get a thank you note saying he had actually won the competition, well do Billy.

On another artistic matter, my oldest grandson is developing a very artistic eye. When Dave was alive he used to love to watch an American, woolly haired artist, called Bob Ross showing you how to paint. He was so enamoured with this artist that he went out and purchased countless pounds worth of artists' equipment from brushes to spatulas and various canvases. The aim was to paint his own pictures.

However Dave never actually used any of these buys and so they have languished in the craft room for the past 4 years and perhaps under our bed at Carmel Road for a further 8 years. The other day I gifted all of these oils and equipment to Harry. He was thrilled. I even introduced him to Bob Ross haha on Youtube. The resultant pictures are astonishing.

The first 2 pictures were painted as follow-along copying the artist's instructions the last picture is a total Harry creation in the style of the artist. I am sure you will agree they are something special, considering Harry won't be 12 until November this year.
