I am so in the bad books today. Let me explain,
A few weeks ago the mother unit had a pep talk with me about getting out and meeting someone haha.
She told me about the Masonic Dances and that one was coming up and she would get George, her 93year old boyfriend, to get some tickets.
I agreed to go and then promptly forgot about it. Apparently so had mum ha.
So imagine my surprise when yesterday afternoon mum phoned to inform me that the dance was tonight and the tickets had been bought. This news in itself is not the problem, what was the problem was that in the meantime I had already agreed to have Robyn over for a sleep over tonight, so I was defo double booked.
As the tickets were bought I made the decision to ring Ben and cancel my babysitting duties, as you can imagine it didn't go down well. But was sorted in the end. My life at the moment seems to revolve around my grandchildren and babysitting duties. I don't mind but when I get the opportunity to do something for myself, however odd, I am going to take it. Point of fact, last night I was at Sarah's babysitting and it was 1.30 this morning before I was climbing into bed. So today I am a little tired, maybe a nap is on the cards before tonight, so that I will be ready to fight off all the eligible Masons at the dance lol.
Now I have the problem of what to wear. It has to be smart but not over the top. Mum rang me this morning hinting about her hair. So I have been around this morning to put some rollers in for her and whilst I was there I helped her choose her dress for tonight, hung out a line of washing and fixed the drawer front on one of her kitchen drawers. An ideal way to earn millions of brownie points haha. But of course, I am still left with the dilemma of what to wear.
I mentioned last week that I was looking after the lady across the road who had covid. Well yesterday her daughter, now back from her holidays, came over with replacement tests, which I was grateful for and a bottle of red wine. It is now the norm for my acts of kindness to be rewarded with bottles of wine, I am not complaining as my wine cellar is building, but it is not the reason that I help my neighbours and they are told as much.
Oh, my days, the postman has just been and I got a parking fine from the retail park in North Road where Aldi and Iceland are. Apparently, you cant stay more than 2 hours on the site. This is ridiculous as there are 9 businesses on the site and it would be an impossible task if you wanted to visit them all. Add to the mix a 90year mother unit who has no concept of hurrying and I am going to have to seriously curtail the shops we visit. So the upshot of it is that I am now £100 down £60 if I pay before 3rd May. I am so annoyed, why would they put parking restrictions on an out of town retail park which is so restrictive. All of the businesses in the retail park are not happy of course. But if you visit this retail park be aware of the new parking charges.
