Teams v Zoom

Over the last year, I have been an Academy Council member for Polam Hall School here in Darlington.

In the beginning and because of Covid all our meetings were conducted on Zoom. I had no problem with that as I know my way around Zoom.

However, midway through last year, there was a shift to Microsoft Teams, and that is where things started to go pear-shaped for me.

I consider myself computer literate and have never had any problems in the past, but Teams is a whole different ball game. There are so many hoops to jump through to actually get onto the academic side of Teams and then a minefield to negotiate to find any documents which may have been placed there for reading.

So this morning I went to the school for a meeting with the school clerk who kindly and patiently gave me a whistle-stop tour of how to use Teams. I have to say now that I know I feel a little silly for not being able to work it out. On the downside, I can no longer plead ignorance in meetings of not having had sight of the documents haha.

Sue and I went to the Argos outlet this morning and bought mum a new 50" smart TV for her Christmas box. We will be giving it to her straight away so that she can start getting the benefit of it. Just hope she doesn't forget it is her Christmas box and on Christmas Day wonders why we haven't bought her anything. I just hope she can learn to use it.

Sarah gave me two carrier bags full of beetroot and green tomatoes this morning. I know what I am going to do with the beetroots but will have to research a chutney/jam or relish to use up the green tomatoes.
