Sunshine and surprises

And wasn't it a lovely sunny day today folks. I got myself sorted for the school run and then completed a few jobs out in the big world, before returning to the Jungalow around lunchtime.

On my to-do list, today was to clear all my personal stuff out of my Eco Sport ahead of Thursday's handover. That accomplished my 90-year old next-door neighbour Meg came for a chat. We stood talking for a little while then she went a little quiet. I asked her if she was alright to which she said no I feel dizzy, do you mind escorting me into the house. So with support in place, we had only taken three steps when she became unresponsive and started to slip. Luckily she is only a very slight lady so I was easily able to ease her to the ground. I ran and got her husband and then between us we lifted her up and got her in the house. I settled her on the couch and gave her a cold drink. I think it was probably dehydration and the effects of the hot sun that did for her. Anyway, another 1,000000 brownie points for my collection.

After my lunch, I decided to go into the back garden and do some long overdue weeding in the borders. I had not been working long when my mobile phone informed me that someone was ringing my doorbell. And this is the lovely lady I found standing there when I opened the door. It was a lovely surprise, so weeding forgotten we decamped to the garden with cooling drinks and she caught me up with what was happening in her world.

Val lives in Abingdon near Oxford and was sadly visiting her brother who is seriously ill in James Cook Hospital.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look as though the outcome will be a good one, the prognosis is very grim. It was a lovely interlude to catch up on things. She is likely to be up in Darlington for another week or so, so I may get to see her again before she returns home.
