Good day everyone.
Our respite has finally arrived. The mother unit has gone off to Essex for two weeks whoop whoop to stay with my Auntie in Benfleet.
After the school run this morning I swung by mum's house to say another goodbye and to make sure she actually got in my sister's car and set off on her Essex Odessey haha.
I received a text from Sue a couple of hours later to say that she and Jeff had made the hostage exchange at Copmanthorpe near York and all went well. From Copmanthorpe my aunties granddaughter will drive them the rest of the way to Benfleet in Essex. Not nice weather for travelling today, hope it fairs up a little the further South they get.
Had a phone call from Sarah last night with a request from Harry for a sleepover at nanas. He didn't want to watch the football or go out and he knew that nanas house would be a football-free zone. Having just packed off my other two grandchildren I was looking forward to a peaceful night watching anything but football. But me being the soft touch that I am, I, of course, said yes. So when he arrived he had it all worked out, we would go to the shop and secure snacks and Pepsi then we would settle down to watch Pikachu the movie. So a trip to the one-stop-shop at the end of the Grove and we were set. The one-stop-shop was closing 3 hours early so that the staff could watch the football, so we just got our snacks in time. Actually, I did enjoy the movie haha. I didn't realise that Pokemon was still a thing, I remember it from when my two were little.
I guess I should have a quick word about the football match. Although I didn't watch the whole match I was unlucky enough to turn it on to check progress just in time to see the penalty shoot-out ( the agony, such a rubbish way to decide a tournament after so much hard work) I also heard from my mother this morning that the Italians were very dirty plays and should have been sent off. I don't know about that as I didn't actually see the match sorry mum.
Later this afternoon I attended my final duty appointment for Polam Hall Governors for this school year. Unfortunately, it was to sit on the board of appeal for the permanent exclusion for a year 10 child, no a very nice job to finish on, but that is it now until September. It is now 7.15 and I have arrived back from the meeting, I am starving.
