My stint at babysitting for Sarah's children is nearly up. I have another couple of days and then one and a half more school runs then I can get back to my normal life, I am fantasizing now about sleeping in my own bed haha.
At least Sarah and Lee have had a good time in Jamacia but reading between the lines of her texts I think coming home can't come soon enough.
Although at -2 last night I think I would be quite happy staying for a little bit more of the Jamaican heat haha.
On Tuesday I went to try a new hairdresser. I had gotten a bit tired of my old one as she could never get the look I was after. So Nick at Hobson and Holmes has taken up the gauntlet. He is taking the route of actually working with my hair roots to dictate the salt-and-pepper effect I am looking for. It will take a few visits to get it looking somewhere how I want it so it is very much a work in progress at the moment.
I have to admit that the hairdressing process is never very flattering and as the middle picture demonstrates I look in my 90's haha. But I am pleased with the effect so far and hopefully by Christmas I will be closer to my dream.
On Thursday I travelled to Thornaby for a consultation with an anthesetist. I have decided to take the plug and have a range of implants done, but the thing is I am super nervous of dentists and can just about get away with fillings without too much trauma, so the thought of having 4 studs drilled into my jaw was a step too far. To this end, I have decided that I am going to be sedated for the procedure, at least then he will be able to accomplish the whole thing in one visit. Then it will be a three-month wait for the implants to settle then I can finally get some teeth back which will make my eating experience a whole lot better. At the moment I eat like a rabbit nibbling my food with my front teeth.
Whilst I have been down at Sarah's over the last week and a half I have been spending my spare moments crafting. I bought myself a couple of hooky mat cushions for the conservatory. So 5,000 hand-latched pieces of wool later I have my first cushion, which I am super pleased with. This morning, however, I started the whole process again on the second one arrrggghhh.
On the 11th of December, I am having my log burner installed. There is a slight bone of contention, in that my current fire surround, which I love, is 100mm too short of the regulation opening. I was persuaded to change said fire surround for a deep oak mantle shelf. However, the more I look at it the more I feel that it doesn't suit the style of my Jungalow. To that end, I fed and polished the surround and am now even more convinced the right thing to do would be to keep it somehow and have the legs extended the 100mm. So I will be talking to the stove company tomorrow hopefully with a solution. See what you think.
Last night I had a lovely visit from Rita. Who turned up with a bottle of wine and a couple of hours to spare. We sat and put the world to right and consumed the whole bottle. I have to say it was a great diversion from hooking pieces of wool into a grid haha.
