A while ago, I guess we are talking 6 years now haha, as David was with me, we visited Lincoln and met up with Jill and Barry, who were having a little break there from Oxford.
Whilst there we also met up with our good friend Maxine who lives in Lincoln. She was kind enough to gift Jill and me a scented candle.
Oh my days I found said candle this week and the scent was still amazing.
As the candle was nearly spent I went online and ordered some more from the Cotswold Candle Company. They arrived on Friday and I have to say they did not disappoint.
I am currently burning the orange and Cinnamon one, but my favourite still remains the Winter Thyme.
My problem with scented candles even Yankee candles is they don't hold their scent for long. But ---- St Eval candles most certainly do, their powerful scent is still coming over true and strong, amazing. Well worth the £10.50 price tag for a small tinned candle.
This week Baydale Pumpkin Patch was again open for business so an outing was in order to pick this year's crop of pumkins for styling. This year they introduced a corn maze but with the recent weather, it was not very successful, better luck next year I think.
I finally gave in with my homegrown tomatoes and peppers. They have not really been very successful and I was left with a heap of tiny green under ripe tomatoes and peppers by the time the plants had started to die off. So I am looking for a chutney receipt to use them up. It will sit beautifully on my charcuterie table for Boxing Day.
And yes folks I am planning Christmas with only two days between Christmas and New Year unspoken for, which may I add is just how I like it.
On Thursday Rita and I took ourselves off to Leeming Bar to finalise the gang Christmas sleepover and Christmas Party. All things on that front are now in place with the exception of an activity for the day after the meal to be decided fully. We also took the opportunity to visit the gin distillery to finalise our tour as well. After having coffee and scones in Simply Dutch we decided that the Coore Arms in Scruton would be a great venue for our lunch and we were not disappointed. Very welcoming landlady and excellent food.
A very successful outing all around, although the lovely Rita had a bit of a scare before we left when she misplaced the sequined bible notebook haha. This book holds all the info and trade secrets for the last few gang do's we have organised. But it was found tucked behind some files so disaster averted.
Finally, a quick catch-up about Mam's remembrance day. Sue walked from her home and Robyn and I walked from the jungalow and we met up in the cemetery.
We visited Dave on the way to Mam's spot and said hello, then it was onto Dad's grave where she was scattered to place a new spiked vase and some red and yellow roses for Mam.
I have to say that the gravestones are looking really bad but the cost of cleaning, repair or replacement would be a huge cost, so in the summer we will do our best to tidy it up as best we can.
