Southwell - part two - Day 442

So today I was up early and ready for the kitchen fitter to come and finish the kitchen. He is usually spot on with his timings, so by 8.45, I was beginning to wonder if he was going to show up today, by 11.30 I knew for sure he was not. I was about to ring him for the third time to find out where he was when he rocked up at my door. Evidently, someone had driven into his van causing about £1000 worth of damage and had just driven off. But someone had witnessed the event so he was able to ring the company concerned and report the driver. He apologised and promised to be here at 8.30 tomorrow morning, so we will see.

Right back to Southwell. After a lovely evening and of course the obligatory nightcap, we all cleared off to bed. So on Saturday, we had a packed itinerary. In the morning we, looked around the minister and in the afternoon we visited the Workhouse. I have to say the workhouse was amazing and I found out lots of things I didn't know or that I thought I knew which proved to be wrong if you get what I mean.

The art installation of leaves was very poignant as it was made up of single metal leaves with hope printed on them and represented some of the people who had lost their lives to covid.

On Saturday night we went to the Kyber Pass Indian restaurant. I was having kittens when I saw the outside of the place, particularly after the success of The Piano. You must understand that I had had to book all these things before we went because of Covid restrictions, but the outside of the Indian looked like a seedy takeaway, how misleading that proved to be. The inside was set out really nice and the staff and food were excellent. I am not an Indian food lover and was looking for something mild on the menu. The waiter was very patient and suggested things. I finally settled on butter chicken, Peshwari naan and rice. Even the butter chicken was too much for me so after several failed attempts to cool it for me with yoghurt, he gave in and brought a korma haha. However, I loved the naans.

So I have been in the garden today as it is lovely, but not before discovering murder and mayhem in my conservatory. I had left beautiful healthy plants on Friday but had forgotten to water them. The temperature in the conservatory when the sun is shining is very high. So this is what I found, I am devasted.

So the final part of my Southwell trip will be tomorrow.
