Well, my long weekend has sadly come and gone.
I was super nervous at the thought of making the journey, It will have been the longest I have driven on my own since David died. However, as apprehensive as I was I was not going to let it spoil the prospect of catching up with my cruise friends in person after nearly two years.
I set off around 10.45 and tootled along the 115 miles to Southwell arriving around 1.30. As it happened 2 of my friends who live in London had just pulled into the hotel carpark minutes before so that work out well.
We got ourselves seated in the beer garden of the hotel and waited in the glorious sunshine for the other 2 to arrive.
The hotel was called the Saracens Head and was very old. Cardinal Wolsey and Kings Charles the 1st having stayed there along with Lord Byron in later years. It was steeped in history and a very old world. It even had a priest hole that led under the road to the minister.
It is also said to be haunted by several ghosts although we didn't see any haha. The bedroom picture was my room and was the Cardinal Wosley Suite.
So our first night saw us at a beautiful Italian restaurant called the Piano. When we arrived we were shown to our seats we could choose inside or outside, as it was a glorious night we chose outside on the terrace. As you can see the backdrop of the terrace was very impressive and the food was to die for.
More from my weekend tomorrow.
