Shaken but not stirred!!

Unless of course you are attached to a 5 stone red fox labrador!!!!

As I told you yesterday I am looking after Dave the Red Fox Labrador, whilst Sarah, Lee and the children are having a mini-break in Manchester, Manchester I know, not very exotic haha.

Well, I have had the most stressful 24 hours with the dog, but the outcome has been very informative.

  1. I defo don't want a dog of any size.

  2. If any pet features in my future it will defo be a cat.

  3. I like the look of my house the way it is without having pee patches on my floors.

  4. I defo don't like the whole picking up steaming turds vibe.

  5. Going out for walks is on my terms not dictated by a dog.

So this morning I decided that I would take the dog out for a walk, it was a nice sunny quiet morning, so we headed out to go and visit Dave in the cemetery. All was going very well, the dog gave me a present near the infant school for me to dispose of (see No.4 on the list above) then we crossed into the cemetery we visited dave and located the grave flowers that the recent winds had redistributed, then I decided to look in the garden of remembrance.

As I approached the entrance to the garden a woman walking a dog was coming towards me. I shortened Daves lead but he took off with me running behind, after dragging me 10 feet or so I lost my footing and fell face-first onto the path, grazing my hands and fingers and banging my knees and elbows. Luckily I somehow managed to keep hold of the dog's lead, as if I had let go I would not have gotten back. I was flat out on the ground making the air slightly blue. The lady rushed forward and another lady who had seen the incident also rush to my aid.

The thing is I can't really bend my new knee enough to get up from horizontal, so getting up again was a real challenge. But these two heroines did their best. After a few minutes of recovery time on a nearby bench, I returned home shaken definitely but not stirred.

The dog itself was okay and oblivious to the trauma he had caused. However, he does not like the feel of my LVT flooring and refuses to walk on it, so he is confined to the lounge in his cage. I have to say I will be glad when this particular fur baby is returned to its mum and dad.

It being Sunday I am hosting the Sunday lunch, so that has been interesting with painful hands but mission accomplished, so now I just have to set the table then wait for my guests. The dog is so powerful that he will be spending lunchtime in his cage as he is a jumper when excited and I don't relish trying to lift the mother unit off the floor.
