A year ago today, my sister Sue and I, said goodbye to the family matriarch, our mam.
After a short time in hospital, after an unfortunate accident at home, she passed peacefully and has been greatly missed by all who knew her.
Over her 90 years, she had accomplished a lot. Proudly producing three daughters, who went on to produce seven grandchildren between them for her, who again went on to give her ten great-grandchildren phew.
She was loved and respected by all who knew her and was known for her humour and sharp no-nonsense retorts and very un-pc comments, which she took great pleasure in airing in public with a ridiculously loud voice haha - God love her.
Here are a few pictures of her with some of her favourite people taken back in March last year when she celebrated her 90th birthday.
I had to visit the dentist on Monday with an emergency. I had, since the Thursday before, been battling toothache. This had gotten steadily worse and ended up with the side of my face swelling and the pain from the canine tooth on the left, being felt as far up as my nose.
Anyway, long story short, after a sleepless weekend and copious cocktails of Ibuprofen and paracetamol, I finally got an appointment on Monday morning. So what's wrong......? The nerve in the canine has died and the resultant knock on from that is that an abscess has formed at the base of the tooth. Anyway, I had an emergency half root canal procedure performed which allowed the dentist to drain the abscess and then pack it with medication and I will have to return in a few weeks for the rest of the root canal filling. At least I had a better night's sleep on Monday night. And over the week the tooth has really settled back down.
I know I said I wouldn't flood the blog with baby Frank but as I am looking after him and Robyn this weekend whilst Ben, Nikki and Dominic are watching England at Wembley, I just couldn't resist one sneaky picture.
He is all snuggled up in his bed next to me in my study while I am working - bless.
On Thursday I went into town to discuss the purchase and installation of a multi-fuel stove/log burner. Having agreed on style and price I left with the knowledge that by mid-December I will have a toasty log burner in situ in time for Christmas.
After leaving the Stove and Fire shop I went to TAO to meet up with Sarah for our lunch. I love this Asian Street food restaurant and would highly recommend it. We had sushi and pulled beef Bao Buns and wine of course. Very nice indeed.
