It was heartwarming this morning when I opened my blinds to see the local 90-year-old road runner strutting her stuff up the Grove. Since moving into the Jungalow there has been an old lady complete with a long flowing skirt and white plaited hair with cool trainers doing her daily walk from her home in Cleveland Terrace to the bottom of my Grove and back. I have built up quite a rapport with her over time but she has been missing for a good few weeks. I was starting to fear the worst, as she never missed a day all during the lockdown. So I was super pleased to see her this morning, looking as feisty as ever and striding out with her two walking sticks. I just hope that I am as fit as her when and if I get to her age.
After her volunteered abstinence from shopping last week the mother unit was raring to go this morning. So on the hit list was Aldi, Poundland, Barnardos Charity Shop, Card Factory and the Salvation Army Charity shop. Oh, my days I need a lie down in a darkened room.
Mind you it is amazing what some people deem appropriate behaviour in public spaces. As I was going through the check out at Aldi I noticed a man stripping off outside near the bags of ornamental gravel (where he was stood has nothing to do with the story haha, just wanted to put some description in) well he was down to his rather grubby undercrackers when he was handed a tin of deodorant by one of the ladies in his party to which he liberally sprayed himself, then he opened another bag and took out a fresh set of clothes, when ready he joined his friends. Of course, the mother unit was walking through the middle of this display and I was praying she didn't stop to comment.
As I hosted my children for a Bank Holiday Dinner on Monday and mum didn't want to come and decided to go to Sues instead, I swapped with Sue and so tonight mum is coming to me for her tea. I have got an exciting weekend ahead so plenty to put in the blog.
