Well, today I hit the ground running haha. Usual school run then back home to begin the process of cooking the birthday cake for my grandson Dominic and my daughter in law Nikki. One wanted chocolate fudge and the other wanted red velvet.
So after some wrangling half of the cake is chocolate fudge and the other half is red velvet.
One side will be decorated with a fortnight gaming scene and the other side will be decorated with a gin theme. I will leave it to you to guess which side of the cake belongs to which. As they are having a joint party on Saturday it seemed only natural to make a duel themed cake. I will add pictures to the blog when I have finished icing the duel cake.
Around 1 o'clock my cousin and her husband (mother and father of the bride) arrived with the bottom and top tier of the wedding cake. They had made it 18 months ago and had been feeding it brandy ever since. I have to say that both tiers are fruit and weights a ton. By the time it is all assembled it will be a terrific weight. I am making the sponge layers including zingy lemon curd and chocolate fudge so there should be something for all tastes. Glad I am not going to be the one in charge of getting it to the venue. As it will be transported fully assembled. There will be several pictures of said cake next week before it goes.
This afternoon my gardener Ian came and by the end of the time with me, he had mowed both lawns and planted my Huechaeras and the fig tree. So once again the garden is looking fab.
No doubt before very long it will be the start of autumn and the garden will have to be put to sleep for the winter something I am not very good at accomplishing, so this year I am hopeful that Ian will do it for me.
