To celebrate the first day of spring the weather outside the window this morning was bright and sunny.
The forsythia tree has burst forth with yellow flowers. The bluebells, forget me knots, daffodils, crocuses are all in bud ready to burst forth with early flowers. All the shrubs seemed to have weathered the winter and are all in bud, so within the next few weeks, the garden will start to look alive again. I have been out in the back garden today deadheading the hydrangea and the ferns, ahead of the new shoots appearing. I have 7 new shrubs, all evergreen to find spaces for in the garden. I may resculpt the lawn at the back to make room for several of the same types to be grouped together. Last year I did a similar thing with the Skimmeia and the heathers and having come through the winter they are starting to fill out again and will look lovely in a month or so time.
Today has been my turn to host Sunday Lunch for the mother unit and Sue and Jeff. We have had a lovely chicken dinner with all the trimmings followed by Millionaires cheesecake yummy. Now they have gone and I have the unenviable task of cleaning up the debris which is left behind. But of course, the new dishwasher will make short work of that haha.
So that folk's is the sum total of Jungalow activity for Sunday, next week we will have the double whammy of the clocks going forward as well as it being Mothers Day. Thankfully this week my calendar is quite light with only a governor's meeting on Wednesday and a commitment on Thursday.
