Good morning to all my bloggers out there in blog land.
First I must apologise for the disappearance of yesterday's blog. I had been invited out to an impromptu Eurovision Party at Sarah's and thought quite naively that I would be able to write the blog on my return, haha some chance of that, since I didn't get home until around 1 o'clock this morning.
So, here is a Saturday and Sunday catch up. Yesterday morning I took the mother unit and my sister, Sue, to Dunelm and B&Q garden centre.
I was in the market for a new parasol for the garden and a weighted stand. The other two were just along for a mosey around the shops. I soon found the parasol that I had had my eye on and loaded up mums barrow. I have to say the mother unit became a lethal weapon with the parasol sticking out the front of the barrow, but we finished our shop without any fatalities haha. I love the parasol but it is so Pride. I showed Steven and Faisel (my brilliant gay friends) the pictures I had taken and they were well impressed that I had decided to support LGBTQ in the Grove. I have to say that was not my intention I just love rainbows haha.
As I was weeding in the garden yesterday I had proof that the coconut shells were definitely worth all the faffing about I did the other day, as this blackbird was tucking in as if it was a steak dinner. That particular half-shell was full to the top before he started dining. The sun was so hot yesterday, around 23 degrees that I was just happy to sit quietly watching the wildlife coming and going, including, in broad daylight, my two resident field mice.
Mid-afternoon I got a text from Sarah saying, I know it is last minute (I thought, Dot, wait for it a request to babysit tonight is imminent) but no it was an invitation to a Euro Vision party. Since it was the first one I had ever attended haha and I would have been watching it anyway, I jumped at the chance. So when I arrived Sarah randomly picked a country for each of the guests, and laid down the rules. When your country performed you took a shot, when the scoring started if your country were awarded any points you took a shot. I suppose you have clicked on that it was going to be a boozy night by now.
Anyway, I drew Greece and having heard the song I was confident that the initial shot of Baileys would be all I would be drinking. How wrong could you get haha? Anyway long story short I played the I am driving card and swapped out the alcohol in the shots for lemonade. Sarah's neighbour drew the UK and was hammered by the end. Back to the results, I think Sam Ryder (UK entry) did brilliantly and although the Ukraine song was not half bad, it was clear that the official jury had the UK as its winner but Ukraine was always going to win on the public vote. So well done to Sam Ryder for actually getting the UK off the bottom and for the whole of the jury voting at the top of the board. In the end, we came in second which again is such an achievement.
