As you can see I have travelled a good journey down the road already. However, Sarah felt that a professional balloon display artist would lend the event that extra bit of something. With that, in mind, we visited Celebrations which is a great party shop in Darlington to chat. Isn't it surprising how much you need and want when you thought you needed nothing haha? The picture shows a sample, I am not including anyone called Dave however haha. We have an appointment to review the venue next week to discuss the layout and other bits and bobs that come up. On Tuesday afternoon Sarah and I set to to design the table centres. Three attempts later and we are still not 100% sold so another session using balloons is in order.
On Tuesday morning I attended the first members meeting of the year of u3a. Jenny and I (My other u3a partner in crime, our official title being New Members Liason haha) have been busy trying to drag our u3a into the 21st century and tighten up on some of the practices. With that in mind, we introduced a new members pack and rolled that out on Tuesday. With 7 new members joining us, it was received very well. I have also introduced to the members a new activity/group called Jungalow Crafting which I will run on the last Thursday of each month.
A little word about dentistry now:-
My teeth implants are healing very well. I had a little bruising around my chin, which looked like I hadn't washed for months, but nothing to shout about. Stitches will be removed next Thursday, although they have already started to dissolve and come out of their own accord. The biggest problem is eating. Having had 75% of my mouth go under the knife, has meant that I have been on a soft diet for over a week now. Great for weight loss, 6lbs and counting but not very interesting. So currently my best friends are mashed veg, yoghurt, soup, scrambled egg and porridge haha. To save hassle I have been purchasing (I know it's lazy) ready-made containers of mashed veg. To be fair they are not half bad. But at this precise moment in time I would kill for a piece of toast - yum yum.
