Last Friday, which happened to be Children in Need Friday, I got a phone call from my local One Stop Shop.
The week before Leighton and I had been in collecting a few bits and Leighton had asked to enter the prize draw, he was convinced we would win and was already planning where on his bed the bear would sit.
I told him that it would be unlikely that we would win, but low and behold, on Friday afternoon I received a phone call to say that indeed we had won the bear.
Leighton as you can imagine was over the moon and pestered his mum until she came to the Jungalow to retrieve said bear haha.
Funnily enough, I entered the same prize draw last year and won the female Pudsey bear in that raffle haha.
I seem to remember that one went to live with Leighton as well haha.
I was hosting more master classes this week in Bauble making. This time it was ladies from my U3A group.
On Wednesday my new log store was delivered along with a large dumpy bag of logs. I was very excited to receive said store and got straight to work piling in the logs. However, half an hour later I was broken and still had not managed to fit all the logs in the store. So there is a surplus left in the dumpy bag which will be used first. Now all I need is the log burner to go with it. But I will have to be a little patient as that isn't due until the 11th of December. On Friday my good neighbour James came down with his son and weatherproofed the roof of the log store with roofing felt, so thank you very much for that guys.
Friday this week was very busy busy for me. First thing I had a new members committee meeting for the U3A at the chairperson's house in Staindrop Road.
Then at lunchtime, it was lunch club again with the members of the U3A. This time it was at the Chequers pub in Dalton. I hadn't been in the pub for years but found the food to be very good.
Finally, to round off a very busy day I attended the Calender Girls production at the Civic Theatre as part of Rita's 70th birthday celebrations.
We met at 6 o'clock and the theatre had laid on a buffet supper and prosecco for us before the performance.
During the interval, we returned to our private meeting bar for additional drinks before watching the rest of the performance. I have to say it was really funny but also very poignant in places.
Of course, Rita and I were persuaded to pose in the cutouts, and of course, the famous line came up about needing considerably bigger buns haha.
