Last night I crawled into my bed thinking this is wonderful. Isn't it strange how your own bed feels the best even if any other bed can be the most comfortable and luxurious? That's how I felt last night.
As a consequence, I slept until 10 o'clock this morning. That was not an issue as I had no one to pick up, drop off, take for a walk or entertain haha. But as I was lying there getting used to the day unfolding, I suddenly realised that I was hosting Sunday Lunch and if I didn't get out of bed soon the meat element of the lunch wouldn't be cooked in time. So I reluctantly got up and began my day.
By 11 o'clock the vegetables were prepared the chicken was in the oven and the table was set. As predicted yesterday my lunch guests were late because of the road closures due to the 10k race, so I did have a little extra leeway. Apart from lunch, I have had the day to myself. I made several phone calls and sent off several texts and emails to friends who are not enjoying the best of times at the moment.
This afternoon I sat and watched perhaps one of my favourite oldie movies, To Wong Foo, Thanks for everything! Julie Newmar. It stars Patrick Swayze and Westley Snipes and is about drag queens from New York who get stranded in a small midwest town in America. It is funny in parts but also deals with prejudices, homophobia and colour. It is a great film for which Patrick received a golden globe award.
This morning I received a phone call from the Bristol Street Motors guy with the facts and figures about the purchase of my proposed new car. I have to say I was most impressed with the deal and will be going into the garage tomorrow to discuss it further, so watch this space. I was particularly excited because at the moment with covid and shortages new car deliveries are coming in around 6 to 8 weeks. But this morning I was told I could be getting my new car in as little as 10 days as the spec I had built there was an actual car fitting the bill in one of the garages down the country.
So that is it, for my day, I will be continuing my Christmas Film fest into the evening whilst getting on with my wool felting project of a small barn owl.
