Well back to alarms and school runs this morning. I will be glad when half term gets here, just like I was when I was actually teaching haha.
Last night I was scheduled to have a zoom meeting with my good friends (that Dave and I had met on a cruise a good while ago now) at 8 o'clock. I was all set when the phone rang and the mother unit was demanding my presence urgently. Well, all sorts of thought go through your mind, so I quickly re-arranged my zoom meeting for tonight and high tailed it around to mums.
So what was the urgent calamity I was needed for. As I walked through the door at mums she was wondering out of the lounge to phone me to inform me that I was no longer needed. I asked what the problem was and low and behold it was because she couldn't get her tv to work. But some fiddling about before I got there saw the TV working perfectly.
So to my cruise friends I apologise for the last minute cancellation of our zoom and I will see you later tonight. All that said I got the same call from mother this morning. After messing about with the TV for a while and phoning Virgin Media for advice we came to the conclusion that the remote needs new batteries, which mum doesn't have but I do so I will sort that for her when I take her home after her tea with me tonight.
This afternoon my lovely little blind fitter, Paul, (not physically blind haha) but from Siesta blinds came to install my brand new replacement blind in the kitchen.
When the original blind was made its grey contrast tapes had been put on to tight. Paul had tried a couple of weeks ago to rectify the problem but couldn't so a new blind was ordered.
As you can see the blinds now look lovely and are all working perfectly. It was the middle blind that was replaced.
Whilst he was fitting the blinds today I got talking to him about his up coming wedding. A couple of weeks ago when he was trying to mend the blind I was in the middle of icing Sophie's wedding cake, at the time he was super interested and was going to mention it to his intended that night.
Well, today he was asking more questions and wondered if I had any pictures of the cake. Do I have any pictures haha does a one legged horse go clip????? So I shared a few from the wedding, so long story short, I may have gotten myself another commission.
Late this afternoon one of the schools that I am governor of got the Ofsted call. They will be inspected tomorrow and Wednesday. I don't know yet if I will be required to go in but I sincerely hope not as I would hate to look like a numpty as I have not been in the current governors role for safe guarding very long. If the call comes for me to go in I will have to do some serious swotting up.
But like many schools at the moment they were expecting the call as the Ofsted process was suspended last year due to Covid. So I wish them all the best and hope that they can do their stuff without having to call on me haha.
