Well, today has been a pretty laid back one, to say the least. I leisurely woke up, had a shower and hair wash and then off to the supermarket to stock up on a few provisions.
Whilst I was at the supermarket I purchased a few bedding plants and a couple of perennials. Now the challenge is to find somewhere to plant them.
I called at my sister's house, for coffee this morning and she returned the favour with me this afternoon haha. Anyone would think we had nothing much to do. Actually, it has been like this all week and the common denominator is that we have not had the mother unit to look after.
Speaking of the mother unit she will be coming home a few days early, as her lift, my nephew Mark wants to be up in Darlington by next weekend to support his dad, as it is the one year anniversary of my little sister Sandra's passing. Time races on and waits for no man, never a truer word spoken.
Had a phone call from mum this morning to tell me that all of Auntie Alice's family were self-isolating as one of her grandchildren had developed Covid. I sincerely hope that mum is sensible and stays away as she is not the best at believing Covid is a thing. And in her words, she has had 2 vaccinations and now is invincible. But at 200 odd miles away we cant police what she is doing we just have to hope she is safe.
So, as you may or may not know writing has been a passion of mine all my life but since I retired it has been on my agenda seriously for the last 10 years having self-published 7 children's books and 3 adult novels. At the moment I have 3 adult novels cooking on the stove, so to speak all at very different stages. One of which is a dystopian tale, another that is also a bit of a dystopian fest and one that is a love story that is barely out of the blocks. I usually have several stories on the go at any one time and like to flit between them as ideas come into my head. Over the last few weeks, I have been writing a lot on one of the dystopian titles called Dreamers. It is the furthest along of all my current stories. Funnily enough, I have written the beginning and the end and now I am battling to join the dots haha. So I know how it starts and where it ends I just have to get the middle right. I have set myself a target of writing 1000 words per day minimum. So far I have managed okay. Here are some facts and figures for you to mull over which illustrates how far along I am with my novel.
A Novellette is between 7,000 and 17.000 words
A Novella is between 10,000 and 40,000 words
A Novel is between 80,000 and 100,000 words
Currently, I have written 18,174 words so I am sitting at a Novella so a hell of a lot more writing to go to reach novel status.
