On Thursday the first Craft Fayre of the season for me went off without a hitch. Carmel College Fayre is one that I always do and is a massive one. Lots of footfall to buy my bits and pieces. This year I concentrated on 5D diamond painting, in particular sparkly coasters.
When my mam was still with us, she would often lament over the state of my dad's grave. It has taken me two years to do something about it. Sarah and I descended on the cemetery this week armed with rubber brick walls, white gravel, saws, trowels, spirit level and much more, to begin the makeover. I had already had the local memorial stone masons Bambridges, regrind and replace the original lettering on the headstone, and remove the damaged curb stones, leaving Sarah and me to sort out the rest. We raked, sawed, dug and coaxed our haul of materials for over two hours but as you can see by the end we had a marvellous result. All that is left is to add a plaque for my mam and uncle Stanley.
Now onto grave makeover two. For a while now the gilded lettering on the Hullah family grave was starting to look shabby. So again, the Bambridge Brothers were drafted in to re-gilde the top part of the stone. This time, they did it in situ in the cemetery. Sarah and I finished off the refurb with white gravel and edging. We have also decided to add some granite memorial boxes and some conifers to fill the gaps at the back left by the edging. Now I can rest easy knowing all my special people have had a 5-star makeover.
Just a few pictures from my latest trip to York with Sarah, Leighton and Harry.
This shop in Petergate in York is stunning. When Sarah and I went to York four weeks ago it was decked out like this but for Halloween.
Imagine my surprise and delight when we returned last week and they had changed the whole shop front ready for Christmas - stunning.
On Saturday I attended a fiftieth Birthday party for one of my young neighbours haha. It was an afternoon session and then a pub crawl around the bright lights of Darlo. I stayed with some of my other neighbours, for the afternoon, but didn't fancy the crawl, not in the places the youngsters would have favoured anyway - snobbish or what haha. Here I am posing with a neighbour with stick-on dummies, well you would, wouldn't you haha.
Here is an advert for the upcoming Craft Fayre at All Saints Church in Ravensdale Road on the 23rd of November. It will be the second Fayre for me and the last. Not feeling it this year, what with my dodgy knee and all. But do come along, they usually have nice Christmas
gifts on sale. It is a much smaller affair than Carmels but just as nice and busy.
This week's analysis of the first picture, how did you do?
