Mad dogs and Englishmen....say no more

During the last heat wave in July, I enlisted Ben's help on one of the hottest days thus far at the time.

He was replacing and renewing the roof rafters on my she shed.

Well, today during yet another heat wave haha, Ben was again helping me with the shingle laying on the last element of the garden reno.

I have to say that it was very hot work and very tiring.

We drank loads of iced juice and beavered away whilst the children stayed sensibly indoors in the shade.

By mid-afternoon, we were done and I have to say I am ecstatic with the result.

Tomorrow I have a few bits and pieces to complete but I intend to take it easy for a change.

Yesterday my gardener came and did quite a bit of tidying up and trimming bushes haha. I also asked him to cut down and remove a bush that has lethal barbs on its stem and leaves and just didn't do it for me anymore. Imagine my surprise when he cut it down and I found that the inside of the trunk and the sap were bright yellow.

Late this afternoon my parcel arrived from Mr Amazon containing my net lights for the she shed. I promise you this is the last bit of the jigsaw haha. Well, it took me 2 hours to throw these lights over the rafters and position them correctly. However, this was not without its problems when the net got tangled.

But as you can see I finally got the net stretched over the rafters and I can't wait until it gets dark to see the effect.
