Thank you for your patience over the last 5 days. I think all of you will know by now that I lost my beloved Mother Unit last night. Last Saturday, she had a fall in her garden whilst hanging out her clothes. This fall caused a massive bleed to her brain and during the night of Tuesday into Wednesday it finally overcame her. I discovered her on Wednesday morning deeply unconscious and unresponsive. So over the next three days, I kept a vigil of over 40 hours next to her bedside, with Ben initially then over the last 2 days Sarah and Ben's wife Nikki constantly supporting me at her bedside. Last night at 8.05 pm she finally passed very peacefully and quietly. I feel especially for my sister Sue who is on holiday in Thailand so had to complete her part of the vigil over facetime and zoom including her final farewell last night. I can only imagine how stressed she must have felt. Mum's last day was joyous and sad in equal measure she had many visitors over the day who shared funny memories of her so there was also laughter. We played her favourite Jim Reeves songs to her shortly before she passed so the atmosphere was calm and loving.
Rest in Peace Mammy
