Let the fun begin

This morning I was up early and round to the mother units to try and persuade her that going shopping early was a good thing.

I was and will be stupidly busy over the next few days, so I wanted the weekly trail around the shops done and dusted.

We didn't do too bad as I dropped her off around 11.30.

So for the rest of the time up until 1.30, I was putting the finishing touches on some little games that I had made for the children to do on Sunday and I had baked a small corned beef pie to take to Sarah's for our tea.

So, I spent the afternoon with Sarah and this evening, we have blown up about 150 balloons and made them into two balloon arches. Sarah is hosting her Jubilee Party tomorrow afternoon so I had been co-opted to help. The garden already looks very festive and will look even better once the balloon arches go up tomorrow.

We set up a photo booth as she has bought a polaroid camera. I bought her some solar-powered pegs on a string and the idea is that her guests will take commemorative pictures of themselves against a vintage flag surrounded by a balloon arch and hang them on the peg lights.

At 9 o'clock I left Sarah's having just watched the latest Fantastic Beasts movie and headed home to make a large oblong corned beef pie for tomorrow's party. I had to make it tonight to allow it to cool down completely so that it would be easy to cut.

Right back to Ely, it's okay folks there is only one more set from Ely after this. On Sunday we headed out of Ely to visit Wickham Fen. In front of the visitors centre, was a huge piece of black bog oak, it was amazing to see it in its raw state and then imagine it made into a table such as the Jubliee table we had seen in the Cathedral. The small windmill is only one of a few which is still in operation, its job is to keep the fenlands from flooding. What was nice was the little fen cottage which you could have a look around, very interesting.
