Last Chance Saloon

Okay, this is Rosie. She belongs to my granddaughter Robyn.

Robyn was gifted this bear made from clothes that were too small for her when she was a baby. Over the years Rosie has not been out of Robyn's sight. Being cuddled and squeezed for comfort.

Ever so often I have Rosie come to stay with me for emergency repairs, so over the 7 years she has been alive, she has virtually been remade.

The only original part is the top part of the face. I told Robyn that I would mend Rosie but this would probably be the last time I could do it and that next time we would have to have a conversation about using different material, which would render Rosie not Rosie anymore if you get my drift.

When they were in Fuerteventura last week Robyn had taken another bear with her as Rosie was too fragile to travel. I spent last night darning her face and getting rid of the huge hole that had appeared above her nose.

This morning she had a bath and then spent the rest of the day hanging around on the line, in the hot sunshine, having a finish off inside a pillowcase in the tumble drier. Luckily she has survived and will be returned to Robyn tomorrow.

Now I have told you of my plans to update my garden before I can start I have to purchase, erect and fill a new shed with the contents of my garage which I want to keep. The dilemma was where to locate said shed.

Well, today I was out bright and early with my tape measure and realised that the new shed would fit perfectly in the bottom corner of the garden. The only problem was that a very large Bay tree, which over the years had turned into a hedge was blocking the way. So this afternoon I set to work with a pair of secateurs, some lopers and a hand saw to vamoose said hedge. I am now knackered and the job is not yet finished but at this moment in time I would give anything to jump into a bath for a soak, but since I have only a shower that is a luxury I will have to forgo.

I called down to Sarah's this morning as she was again off work. As we sat in the garden having a coffee I was taken by the display of wildflowers which were growing on the boundary line of the cricket club.
