Jelly roll quilting? No, you don't sewing bowls of jelly on your sewing machines in fact in the quilting world, a jelly roll is a set of pre-cut 2 1/2 inch strips of fabric cut from selvedge to selvedge. ... Most jelly rolls include all of the fabrics from a single line, making them great for scrappy quilts.
I have used a jelly roll to make cushion covers and small throw quilts. As you can see the narrow strips of material are either sewn directly together or as I prefer to do separate with a chunky bias binding to make a striped effect.
In the blue cushion, you can see that I have even mixed up the materials to make a checkerboard effect.
If you like quilting or have never tried it it is a super easy craft that only requires straight line sewing.
