Every two years the local Methodist church at Elm Ridge perform the Journey to Bethlehem story, which is the journey through the church by the audience from the stargazers to the stable.
Each time it is performed I seem to get the job of the virgin Mary (don't laugh) sitting in the stable on a bale of straw for 8 hours over the weekend is no mean feat.
I am not a church goer or even overly religious in any shape or form but I seem to have just fallen into this role, and as no one else has stepped up to take a turn here I am again.
Anyway, this week saw me once again at the church preparing to take on the role for this years performance.
It will be performed on Saturday and Sunday the 16th and 17th of December from 4.30 until 8.00 and is free entry.
So if you are feeling in the mood for a little Christmas enlightenment and the chance to see yours truly sitting on a bale of straw, clutching a pretend baby in an equipment cupboard come along.
This week also saw the departure of Sarah and Lee on a 10 day trip to Jamaica. She was very very emotional having never left the boys for this long before.
So of course that means I will be looking after the boys for the duration.
I went down to see Sarah on Monday to be given a few instructions for their care, her words not mine (after all you must remember I haven't had any children before !!!!! haha) well 4 yes 4, A4 typed pages later my head was spinning.
Needless to say as long as the boys get to the other end of the 10 days in one piece and I haven't burnt the house down I will be happy haha. A bonus worry was taken out of the equation, when Sarah decided that the dog would be better in kennels which was a great relief for me as after the boys are in school the rest of the day is mine, if the dog was at home that would not be the case.
Of course because of Storm Ciaran their flight was a good few hours delayed as the wind and rains rendered taking off to dangerous. On my first night sleeping down at Sarahs we had a very distraught Leighton pleading with his mam to come home. A few nana cuddles and a quick call to the Hilton at Gatwick airport to talk to his mam soon sorted him out.
This week was also the first of this seasons Craft Fayres. This one was at Carmel School which is where Harry goes and as Sarah was away they had to come to the fayre to help out haha, which I have to say went down like a fart in a spacesuite with Harry. Leighton however, took to it like a duck to water. He toted one of my hand made rag dolls around the fayre stopping people asking them if they wanted to buy it, I have to say it worked as he returned with money and no doll haha. His next money making ploy, which, I didn't know anything about, was to to take a slice of wood with a picture on one side and ask people to play a free flip the log game. If they got the picture he directed them to my stall to choose anything on the stall for free. Needless to say when I found out what he was doing I told him to stop haha.
Footfall was moderate as it was such an awful night, weather wise. I made £70 which is better than nothing. Now I am looking for other fayres that are happening over the next month.
Oh how they grow up so quickly haha.
This is Frank graduating from his puppy training class this week.
He received a rossette and a certificate and will now move onto to adolescent training classes.
As you can see Frank is losing his puppy face to be replaced by this adult chiselled features.
As cute and loveable as he is, it still has not persuaded me that I need one for myself. So I will be content with my role as lickable nana. At least I can hand him back at the end of the day a bit like the grandkids haha.
A few late photos from the Halloween Party that came in the next day.
