So today started like any other Friday. Only the boys were dropped off as normal for the school run and I was told that it was a teacher's training day and the boys were not in school. As Lee was away I got to have the children.
At 9 o'clock I was just settling down to read my emails and have my breakfast when my phone broke into life to tell me that I should be at the doctor's getting a blood test.
you have never seen me move so fat. Herding the boys out of the door whilst on the phone with the doctors to check that it was still okay to attend, anyway long story short I was still allowed to keep my appointment even though I was 20 mins late by the time I got there. The blood was to test the suitability of my new diabetic drug now that I have been taking it for about 16 weeks. I am hopeful that it shows a downturn in my blood sugar count which would prove that it is working correctly.
When I returned home I did all my little jobs whilst I was waiting for Val to come and pick up the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake for her son. She came around lunchtime and was thrilled with it phewww.
On returning home from Bens where I had been house sitting I started a craft project which was long overdue. Kintsugi which translates as golden joinery. It is the Japanese art of repairing pottery with a medium which is mixed with gold/silver or platinum powder. The idea is to emphasise the beauty of imperfections. So During storm Urwin, my buddha statue had been blown over and smashed.
I had been meaning to repair it for some time now so this afternoon was the day. Everything was going brilliant until I turned awkwardly and knocked the upper body onto the floor and smashed it beyond repair arrrggghhh. So I made the decision to go with what I had left and turned the statue into a plant pot adding the gold acrylic paint to get the Kintsugi effect. I planted a Rosemary plant and hey presto an unusual planter.
I took it into the garden and placed it down then got the hosepipe out to water it and the few other plants I had put in over this week. 5 minutes into the watering and the bloody hose pipe exploded sending water everywhere, so the next thing on my agenda tonight is to order a new hose pipe.
Whilst I was sitting this afternoon I was watching a new film out called Uncharted. I have to say it is like an updated Indiana Jones and really really good, well worth a watch. It has Tom Holland in the lead, he played the spiderman character.
