Yesterday I reported that the ceiling in the new kitchen had sprung a leak because of the rain.
So with much trepidation, I went to bed with the rain still coming down expecting this morning to have half my ceiling on the floor of the new kitchen. So you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to find the ceiling intact and only one drop of rain ready to fall on the kitchen roll I had put down last night. So here is a non-technical reason haha. Last night the rain
was sideways and driving with the strong winds, still with me, so as the wind drove the sideways rain it went under the first row of roof tiles and was able to ingress onto the ceiling. The rain overnight was vertical rain haha and no wind so no problem. My builder will mortar under the tiles to stop sideways rain from getting in in the future when the weather picks up a bit. Hope you understood the rather quirky Jungalow explanation of the problem.
Here are today's accomplishments. I have put the jazzy wallpaper on in the new dining room. I am super pleased with it and think it will look great when all the furniture is back in on Sunday.
Also this morning the man from Siesta blinds came and measured up for the new kitchen blinds. Unfortunately, the blinds I wanted, Perfect fit ones, I couldn't get as the middle pane of the window is too big. But I have chosen some textured white wood ones with grey tapes so should look lovely. Alan my builder has been up on the roof and removed a full row of tiles and reapplied them with foam filler to stop the sideways rain issue haha. He will replace the foam for proper mortar when the weather clears up.
At half-past five, I have a meeting with the manager from Howdens and Sarah my daughter to discuss the debacle of the washing machine not fitting the island. I will be letting you know tomorrow the out come.
