Happy New Year to you all. I am sincerely hoping that 2022 is a much better year all around.
Well, I partied long into the night or should I say early this morning. I haven't really done much on New Year's Eve since I lost Dave but this year was different.
I had decided early on that I would try and see both my children and their children on New Year's Eve. Since both were having a party/get together/business meeting haha I found myself wending my way up to Bens new house in Aycliffe around 4 o'clock. They had put on a little spread and had invited around 10 people. So it was a great start to New Year's Eve. At 7 o'clock I headed back into Darlington to my daughter's house. Here I would see in the New Year and have a sleepover.
Sarah had made a super chicken curry and a chilli which went down a treat. Up until 1 o'clock this morning, there was just 5 of us and the children but just after one, we were joined by 2 more couples. Throughout the night we played several games including charades and beer pong. At midnight we went outside to herald in the new year with Sarah's neighbours who were not feeling well enough to come to the party. We had a Scottish lady in our group of party-goers who insisted on playing Bagpipe music, which actually was really fitting. By 3.00 this morning I had lost the will to live and the rest showed no sign of slowing down. As I was sleeping in Leightons bed I couldn't duck out as he and Harry were still bouncing off the walls haha. Luckily one of the neighbours fell asleep at the table, and she was taken home then people started to go home to and I was free to escape to my bed. I think I am getting too old for these nocturnal sessions.
This morning I woke reasonably early and crept around getting dressed, feeding the dog and taking him out for a wee before letting myself out at around 9 o'clock. Of course, Sarah's family would only notice I was missing when they actually woke up, which could be this afternoon haha.
On my way home I swung by the mother units bungalow to wish her Happy New Year, of course even though it was 9.15 she was still in bed. So having knocked her up I thought it was prudent to make her a cuppa and her breakfast.
