Halloween Busy Busy........

What is the first thing you see when you look at this image?

Please scroll to the bottom of the blog to read what it means.

It is getting to the time of year when my log burner comes into its own. I wanted to replenish my log store before the winter set in and the logs became scares. With that in mind, I purchased an additional log store and a ton dumpy bag of mixed logs. Great you may say, but it took me nearly an hour to empty the bag into the storage huts. By the end, my back was screaming for mercy haha. But, I am all ready for what I am sure is going to be a very cold winter, but I will be snug and warm.

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week I was staying down at Sarah's sitting with my fur baby Dave.

They had gone off on a half-term holiday trip with the children to Alton Towers. I have to say that the first night was very strange staying in Sarah's large three-storey house on my own with just the dog.

On Thursday of course it was Halloween proper and I was on trick-or-treat duty. So starting around 5 o'clock I was ready armed with my box of sweets for the hordes of trick-or-treaters that I was assured would descend on Sarah's house.

I have to say, she wasn't wrong, as a procession of 28 families came to the door over a two-hour period. The costumes were brilliant as well.

After the onslaught had calmed down, I was able to leave and escape to my own house.

When I got there I noticed that my pumpkin doorstep display was smashed to bits. On looking through my ring doorbell feed for the night, I witnessed three teenage kids stomping on my pumpkin because I had not answered the door, the fact I wasn't in didn't seem to matter - little sods is all I can say about that.

With all the wet weather we have been having lately my back lawn has sprouted loads of mushrooms. I dare not eat them as I suppose they could be toadstools. But my understanding of that issue is if they are ribbed underneath and can be easily peeled then they are probably mushrooms and okay. But I have just left them as I am not sure. If anyone is sure let me know.

This week I had my Physio appointment with the Muscular Skeletal people at Connect in the centre of Darlington. I didn't know what to expect but wasn't expecting to attend a seminar on Osteoarthritis. Anyway, after the presentation it was time for a one-to-one consultation I was already prepared to fight my corner having tried numerous things to ease the pain in my knee. As it turned out I didn't have to squeak a sound, as the physio guy took one look at my x-ray and asked which surgeon and where I would like treating - result. I asked for the consultant who did my first knee at the private hospital called Woodlands. So, I will be seeing him in about one or two weeks, at which time, I will get a date for the replacement. I hope it isn't too long.

Saturday Night saw the annual Halloween Night party at the Cricket Club. The theme was flexible this year and I decided to steer away from the traditional Halloween costumes and went as Cleopatra. Although on reflection she did meet a grizzly end haha. I had great fun putting on my makeup and the rest of the paraphernalia. I popped over to see two of my elderly neighbours to show them the finished effect and they were well impressed. As you can see from the photos there was a great selection of costumes. Leighton's banana costume, which, I had retrofitted for him on Friday as it was an adult size, was a great hit and Ben, Robyn and Dominic came as grim reapers.

This week's analysis of the first picture, how did you do?
