Well, today I had to have the LVT fitters back to rip up two of the tiles from my beautiful floor. Yes, I can hear you all shouting Noooooo!!!!, but it had to be done.
It transpired that the builder had put down 4mm ply instead of 6mm and whilst the majority of the floor was okay there was a patch in the entrance to the new kitchen that was springy so it had bubbled.
The fitters came back and lifted two tiles and nailed and screwed the ply down until it was firm then re-tiled, so jobs a good one. Actually, I was pleased that they had to return as I felt guilty, on Tuesday night when they had finished at 7 o'clock I had to quickly usher them out because I was on a zoom governors meeting. I had intended to give them a tip for the hard work they had put in over the two days but didn't get the chance on Tuesday. So today I put that right.
I was finishing tidying the final room today and needed to put some things in the garage. Guess who I saw sitting very still and quiet when I went in. Yes, Mrs blackbird.
I actually thought that they abandoned the nest because of the noisy traffic in and out of the garage over the last few days but clearly not. So I am expecting there to be eggs shortly, then I will have to be quiet and careful.
Another development today was that I got myself a gardener. I love gardening but the jobs that I find tedious and sometimes demanding are cutting the lawns trimming the trees and weeding. I don't mind titivating, so he is going to do a couple of hours of heavy gardening once a fortnight. It's not bad either at £10 per hour.
At the moment my garden is looking very pretty in its spring colours. Even the broad beans are looking healthy.
