It has been a funny old day really.
Brilliant warm sunshine this morning and torrential rain tonight.
After the school run, I decided that even though my gardener was coming this afternoon I would spend a couple of hours in the sunshine weeding my front garden.
Now, unlike most people, I find weeding therapeutic and very satisfying haha.
By 12 clock I had completely weeded two borders as well as hoeing said borders and removing a large number of stones.
At 1 o'clock I tuned in to do some governor training. It was on induction training for new teachers. When I first started teaching back when Noah was on his ark, we were called NQTs (Newly Qualified Teachers) but now they are called ECTs (Early Career Teachers) we had to do 1 year under supervision but now it is 2 years plus they have to do also sorts of assessments and training during that time. It was very interesting and for once I actually came away from the training session with better knowledge than when I started.
Around 3.30 my gardener turned up and spent 2 hours cutting lawns and digging out trees I didn't want, so at the moment my garden is starting to look lovely.
The mother Unit suggested that we have a fish supper for our teas tonight which is something I don't partake of very often, but I obliged and I have to say they were really tasty.
Then it was back to mum's to play our weekly games of cards.
Yesterday I ordered commemorative coins for the children in the street to be given out at the street party. I had decided on specially designed £5 coins and used Westminster Commemorative, who had a great deal on the coins. I had spent ages on their site getting the orders through. I required 6 coins and it was only when I had finished that I realised that the fine print stated that only one coin could be ordered per account. A phone call to the company this morning confirmed this, so I am back to the drawing board. The other thing I found out was that even if they would allow me to have the 6 coins, they wouldn't have been delivered until the 17th of June, so would not have been available for the street party anyway.
