Today has been a day of ups and downs. The ups were good and the downs oh my days were horrible.
So let me start with an up. This afternoon I attended a reading Scavenger Hunt at abbey school. It was an event run by the year 4 classes which included Leighton's class.
I arrived at school with a blanket to sit on as the event was taking place outside on the small field.
We joined our children on the field, they had a clipboard which had questions about books and a box of books to look through. Leighton was quite animated working his way through the question and finding books which could answer them. It was a great afternoon.
Now for a down. A couple of weeks ago I told you about some parking tickets I had received. Well, today was a rare occasion when mum decided that she was not up to going on our weekly pilgrimage. So, as I was shopping for her and my auntie Sylvia I decided that I would go to the North Road Aldi.
I made a note of the time I entered determined that I would not be caught out again. As I was shopping one of the shop assistants who talks to mum and me every week caught up with me and told me that if I had not paid the fines yet they would sort them out as they didn't agree with what the private company were doing. Of course, I had already paid the fines but was told if it happened again I was to let them know. Now you might be thinking that is not a down, but the down part is yet to come. As I was packing up my groceries the same assistant caught up with me and pointed out of the window saying "see that car parked in the disabled bay without badges, well they have just got a ticket, and see those 2 cars down there they are getting tickets too. I informed her that I was one of those 2 cars and had no idea that I had parked in the wrong place. She hurried off and got her manager to go out and talk to the guy giving out the tickets and sorted it out for me so defo an up, then down, then up again haha.
Lastly, tonight is a massive down. For some days now Sarah has not been well, she has had pain in her left side, so much so, that she has not slept and has been driven to tears. This morning she went to the doctors, and she was sent to the hospital to a surgical unit for tests. Many hours later, with scans, blood tests and X-rays carried out and at one point the possibility of surgery, she was allowed home. She was told that all the tests were normal but they didn't know what was wrong and to return to the hospital if it got worse. The only concrete diagnosis she got today was the fact that she had covid. So it has been a funny old day.
