Well, the eagle has landed in the shape of my favourite auntie Alice. She travelled up from London yesterday to spend the mother units birthday week with her.
She will stay at mums until after her party on Friday and then return home on Sunday with her daughter Alison and her family who will be travelling up on Friday for the party. It is going to be a great opportunity for a full extended family get together for a long time. To actually get everyone in the same place at the same time has been a massive undertaking, but Sue and I have managed it.
This week I will be putting all the final pieces of the party jigsaw together, talking to the caterer, baking and icing the cake, making sure the entertainment is still okay and then on Friday afternoon decorating the Cricket Club ahead of the party. In amongst all of that I will be entertaining my mother and Auntie starting with a trip out to a few shops tomorrow morning. My auntie who is also in her late 80's wants a dress for the party. She bought a standby but is determined to try and buy a new one for the occasion. So that's were I come in tomorrow morning.
I have tried a hand painted chopping board today and I am quiet liking the full colour effect. So I have been researching a few more designs that can be applied with colour and also have catchy little phrases on them also.
The beauty is that I can treat them with the food safe oil and they will be sealed and ready for use.
I am also researching large buttons that can have slogans on them and pictures which can be treated with the yatch varnish and used as coasters. This season I have decided that my crafting will be on one theme, which is wooden products. Last year I had baubles, hand knitted scarves, bead braclets quilling items so much that the stall at the craft fayre looked like a bit of a jumble sale, by narrowing the range of crafts this year I am hoping to make more of an impact. So the theme of this year is defo gnomes and wood haha.
