Well, my house-sitting duties are complete. I have tended to the animals and looked after the house as well as taking the dog out for a couple of walks. It has been a different type of few days than I am used to but hasn't been too bad.
Today Dave the labrador and I went for a walk around South Park. It was like taking a celebrate for a walk, the number of people who stopped and addressed the dog by name was unreal.
There was a lot of runners in the park this morning and as we got closer I could see marshalls clapping and encouraging the runners, so maybe it was a fun run or maybe a warm-up to the 10k road race which I think happens tomorrow, it was cancelled last year because of Covid. Judging by the new road signage stating that roads will be closed on the 1st August for a certain length of time I have just checked the Darlington Borough website and indeed it is the road race tomorrow. So with that in mind, I will have to let my sister know as she will be picking mother up to bring her here for her lunch at about the time the race will be in full swing in Carmel Road and Coniscliffe Road. Every year whilst we lived in Carmel Road Dave and I would walk to the end of our drive to encourage and cheer the runners on. Tomorrow there will be over 2000 runners.
Ben was sensible enough to realise last night that he had had too much to drink at a friends house to chance driving home, so he walked the mile and a bit across town and crashed at my house. When I got back from Sarah's I gave him a couple of bacon sandwiches and a lift over to his friends' house to pick up his car. On route, I persuaded him to have a look at the new Nissan Micra Tekna in Bristol Street Motors. I have to say it is a smart little car and is on the possibles when I change my Ecosport shortly.
