Crochet hooks and plastic caps

Had my last long lie in this morning, as, from tomorrow, both Harry and Leighton will be returning to school after recovering from Covid, so I am back on the school run, so I will be setting my alarm for 7.15 again tomorrow.

I have had a reasonably easy day today, going to my sister Sue's for my dinner with the mother unit.

When I returned I got a phone call from Sarah asking if I was busy. As I wasn't I have ended up down at her house for the latter part of the afternoon and most of this evening. So what was so important that my presence was requested by my daughter. Well, she wanted me to put some highlights through her hair.

Now Sarah has the most beautiful long dark hair and she wanted me to put blonde through it. She would not be dissuaded so I set to work with a crochet hook and a plastic tight-fitting cap. I don't know if you remember back in the day when you had this procedure carried out at the hairdressers.

Well, it is not the sort of thing that is suitable for very long hair like Sarah's, but she insisted and let me tell you it was a challenge trying to pull the hair through the cap. In the end, we managed and then we sat down to watch the new season of Dancing on Ice whilst her colour cooked. She actually looked like an oven-ready turkey haha. She was happy with the result, I am reserving judgement.

So I guess I can add hairdressing to my repertoire of useful skills.
