Crafting and awards - a good week...

On Wednesday I tried a new hairdresser that had just opened in the village.

I had been looking for a while for a new stylist after my normal stylist committed the cardinal sin.

So what was that unforgivable sin you may ask.

Not listening to her client and just ploughing ahead with her idea of what I wanted.

When you ask for the merest bit off the bottom, as you are growing it out and three inches later you feel scalped, well, that was me at the beginning of the year.

Normally it would not have been a problem after all hair does that funny thing of growing back haha but it was only a month before my big birthday bash and the intended hairstyle I was excited to wear was now no longer possible. Needless to say, I have not been back hence the need for a new stylist. Well long story short I was very impressed with Sam from Duo's and I am hopeful of a long successful relationship.

To go with my highland-themed lounge I showed you a couple of weeks ago, I have been fashioning a Latch Hook cushion. I finished it on Monday and think it looks fab, even though I say so myself,

Last night I was one of the lucky ones to see the Northern Lights from the comfort of my back garden, no jetting off to Iceland for me haha. As it happened a lot of us got some spectacular shots of this fabulous natural phenomenon. Here are a few, picture one was captured by Rita, picture two was from my back garden and the last picture is from Sarah's balcony.

On Tuesday it was our monthly meeting of the u3a in Bowen Road. This week was special for me as I was being presented with a prize I had won in a regional writing competition. I took the opportunity to plug a new creative writing group I am introducing.

Our u3a hosts a regional quiz twice a year.

In the summer it was mentioned that a last-place wooden spoon would be a great thing to do.

I was commissioned to hand paint 6 spoons for this event.

To be fair, the spoons were a great success and were more prized than the winning trophy haha.

Fast forward to now and I again have been producing spoons for the Christmas event.

I am in the process of having my staircase and hall decorated. After the success of the lounge, I asked my little decorator to fit me in for a hall makeover. I am super excited about the progress so far, it will be finished within the next few days so I will show you some photos next blog.

Did you find all the animals hidden in the elephant?
