What a day I have had.
On the face of it, I had not a lot planned. Maybe some long-overdue cleaning and a bit of crafting.
However, that plan only lasted until 9 o'clock this morning, when I decided that I would pop out and finish Sarahs Christmas presents. I knew what I wanted so thought I would be back home by 11 o'clock tops.
The plan was working really well and I had finished my shopping and was about to head home when I got a text message from Sarah asking if I wanted to go have a mooch around the town. So at 11.10 I pulled up at Sarah's and she and Leighton jumped in the car and we headed into town. Having bought a few more things we decided to have a break and take in some lunch.
So we went to the little cafe in the Cornmill which has recently been taken over and is called Esquires.
Sarah and I had leek and potato soup and a latte and Leighton had a children's breakfast scrambled egg, beans and sausages. It was a very nice interlude.
Whilst we were eating there was a commotion coming along one of the thoroughfares which winds its way through the Cornmill.
Banging of drums shouting that sort of thing. We were looking to see what was coming when around the corner came a procession of COP26 protestors. They were banging drums and shouting, all very civilised really. They marched out of the shopping mall and congregated on High Row to have a mini-rally.
When I finally got home around 3.30 I started on my cleaning which I had planned for the morning. I also wrapped the Christmas presents I had bought and was just settling down to a coffee when the front door opened and Sarah came in wheeling a large container on wheels full of clothes for the charity shop. She stayed a while and within a few minutes of her going my niece Leanne rocked up to borrow a wig and some dressing up clothes for a maths rockstar event at her school on Monday.
It is now 6.30 and I am finally able to take a breath, I have just put a chicken korma on for my tea and then I am defo going to sit and watch some TV haha.
Of course outside the fireworks are going off in all directions but it is so cold and windy tonight I am not going out to see any displays.
