Never a truer word spoken at the moment. The residents of Darlington are in the grip of a water drama at the Broken Scar Treatment works on the edge of town.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, there was a breakdown of the filtration plant at the works and although it was mended pretty quickly a sizeable amount of untreated water got into the drinking water system.
So the water board were out in force on Tuesday night delivering leaflets telling us to boil water before drinking it. It was followed up by a text message campaign giving the same message. We are now some 3 full days down the road from the incident and the boil water precaution is still in force. It is amazing how many times you reach for the tap to fill a glass with water. As I drink up to 3 litres of water a day I personally only use bottled or filtered water anyway, so it has been less of a problem for me. However, I realised that I hadn't changed my water filter for some time so that was my first job his morning. Of course, trying to explain to the mother unit not to drink the water defo fell on deaf ears. It became very apparent at Mcdonald's last night as they were only selling bottled drinks or milkshakes, no tea or coffee or fizzy drinks such as coke and Fanta because they are just syrups in carbonated water.
I was waiting for a doctors consultation this morning over the phone, to chat about the problem which my Cannoflozin diabetic drug was causing me.
I had put my mobile on charge next to my bed and was busy elsewhere in the Jungalow. I missed the call!!! When she rang again I luckily heard it and ran to answer but she hung up as I got there and even though I rang straight back I was told that I would now have to wait for another week for a repeat consultation. I am so annoyed as they usually ring on the house phone and not the mobile. This morning I took the last of the half doses of the Trulicity drug and from next Thursday I am on the full dose haha. I am hoping that because I have tolerated the half dose that the shift to the full dose wont effect me to much, fingers crossed.
Tonight I will be having dinner with Sarah Lee and the boys after I have taken Harry to basket ball. Apparently it is going to be sphagetti bolognese yummy with lashings of garlic bread. Of course Sarah will be doing her magicians trick of hiding all the vegetables by blitzing the sauce until it is smother. The boys don't click on and it basically doesn't taste any different. But the subterfuge she has to go through to get them to eat a few veg is amazing. Then I will stay with Sarah until it is time for me to pick the mother unit up from her sisters.
