Today we had Sunday lunch out at the Copper Beech pub. I have to say it was lovely but very filling. Sarah and the boys joined us and their side of the table polished off their lunches and we oldies on my side of the table began to flag at the size of the portion and I am afraid to report we did leave some.
Lee was supposed to be joining us as well, but he felt unwell, on completing a PCR test, just to be safe, he found that he has again caught covid. He can trace this back to the underground a few days ago when he was in London on business. He is not too bad and I hope he doesn't get any worse.
So today we started with a lovely breakfast. Smoked salmon, mortadella ham, scrambled egg, avocado, toms and cucumber with toast and fresh orange juice.
After breakfast, we visited the cemetery, as my brother-in-law's parents are both in the same grave as David it was a triple whammy in terms of visiting.
That done we headed out to look at Ben's new house in Aycliffe. Even though Ben is away on holiday, he had suggested that I take John and Irene up to view his new house, as they don't get up here that often.
John and irene were very impressed with the house and I was especially impressed with the wildflower meadow that the builders, Persimmon Homes, had planted in front of it. It looked so pretty.
A few weeks ago the 15-year-old lad from No.1 Elton Grove posted a leaflet through the door offering to do odd jobs, as he was saving for a rather expensive bicycle.
When his dad was taking my jubilee bunting down last weekend, he mentioned that my gutters were full of rubbish and small bits of mortar which had come away from the ridges.
He offered the services of his son Adam for a small fee to clean them. Of course, James the father came as well to supervise and they soon had them clean and shiny haha. Whilst they were up there they cable-tied the wires that Virgin had put in the gutter when they installed my cable tv. So, not only are my gutters rubbish free they are now neat and tidy. The picture of the bucket is some of the stuff that they took from the gutter. I am waiting for pictures of the before and after shots to show you also, but I think it was £10 well spent.
