On Monday this week I travelled down to Oxford for an overnight stay with Val in Abbingdon.
You may think me stupid for going all that way for a one night stand, but let me clarify, I went to Abbingdon on the train to stay with Val and the following day Val and I continued our journey to Cheltenham to meet up with the rest of the gang.
Our stay in Cheltenham lasted until Thursday and was a great mini break away.
We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express which was situated just down the road from the Brewery Quarter.
The Brewery Quarter was lite up with hundreds of twinkly lights. It had many bars and resturants and was very lively earlier in the evening. This picture of the girls was taken as we headed back to the hotel, so things had quieten down abit.
So, on Monday night, Val took me to a lovely Italian Resturant called Ask in Abbingdon. We had a lovely meal and the following day we set off towards Cheltenham. We stopped in Burford in the Cotswolds for lunch and a bit of retail therapy. What a fantastic place it is. We had lunch in Huffkins and then contnued our journey to our final stop in Cheltenham.
Through the day on Wednesday Val and I explored the modest sights of Cheltenham. We racked up 14,500 steps over the day which I know is not that mind blowing but when you consider at home I do about 2,500 to 3,000 if I am lucky so you can imagine by the end of the day we were paggered haha. Time for a nana nap before the night time frivolities.
Over the two days we ate at lovely resturants, on the first night we went to The Cosy Corner and on the second night we went to Brasserie Blanc which is owner by Raymond Blanc the chef, where the Class of 2024 picture was taken.
I had decided that I would take the train as I dont particularly like driving long distances. I am super glad I did judging by the stressed and fatigued looks on the others that had driven down by the time they arrived at the hotel. I passed my long train journeys doing crafting haha.
