I have for the last 3 years called this particular beauty Bridal Astilbe. It dies back to nothing in the winter and quickly recovers itself in the spring until we get this crowning glory in mid-June. However, these magnificent tuffs do not last long, within 2 weeks they will be brown and withered and will have to be chopped off. The foliage will then last the rest of the summer and into Autumn.
When John and Irene were staying with me last weekend imagine my dismay when Irene found my romantic bridal Astilbe in a gardening book. But of course, it is not called that is it, it isn't even an Astilbe shock horror.
It is actually an Aruncus Dioicus fancy name you may agree, but its common name is Goats Beard haha. How disappointing is that? So my dilemma is, do I still call it the name I have always called it, or, do I give it its less than glamorous proper name. But whatever it is called it is a stunning plant.
Have you ever used one of these QR printers in a shop? Up until today, I had not.
I had something to return to Amazon and followed the normal procedure I do when returning things.
Unfortunately, I pressed the wrong button and was issued with a QR code instead of a returns label. I tried to reverse the process but the system wouldn't let me, so I had to go with printing it out in the shop.
However, when I took it to my normal shop the QR code wouldn't work. So I ended up searching for an alternative outlet. Sometime later at Carmel Road Petrol Station, I managed to find a QR reader that was prepared to take the code and issue a label for my parcel. It is actually quite an easy procedure once you get the hang of it haha.
This afternoon I spent some time sitting under my neighbour's awning drinking orange juice. I had gone around to discuss the proposed new fence which is needed between our properties. She has kindly agreed to foot half of the bill which is a great help. Now I have to decide on the rest of the changes and then bust into action.
