Weather this morning was bitter, defo moving into the next stage of the winterization process. Even though the sun was shining it was still cold with a biting wind.
My major job this morning, once I had gotten out of bed having watched a Christmas Film which I had recorded haha was to deliver Harry's birthday cake to Pizza Hut ahead of his party at 1 o'clock today.
Well, when I got into town I found all the roads closed off in preparation for the Christmas Light switch on which happens at 4 o'clock this afternoon. It will be quiet the event with live bands on a stage in the market square Christmassy market stalls and fireworks. Well, that maybe all well and good but I needed to park close to Pizza Hut to avoid having to walk through the centre carrying Harry's cake. Anyway mission accomplished then I head out to Longfield School to catch the end of the training session and mini basketball game which Sarah had organised for Harry's school friends and his cousins.
I was given the dubious job of ferrying four of Harry's friends from the sports hall to Pizza Hut. You may be thinking that that was not a big deal, but my head was battered by the time I had driven into the centre to the restaurant.
Whilst the children, 11 of them, tucked into pizza and ice cream, Ben and I escaped to the refurbished inside market. It is now primarily entertainment and eating venue with only a few of the original market stalls. Ben and I stopped for a sneaky beer and some halloumi fries,, and very nice they were too, before returning to Pizza Hut in time for the arrival of the cake.
On my return home I saw one of my neighbours putting up his Christmas Lights, apparently, I have started the avalanche going haha. So I dove into my garage and produced my unicorn and got her set up on the lawn ready for the big switch-on tonight.
