Burning the midnight oil....

Okay, I am tired today. It is a long, long time since I burned so much midnight oil.

But it is hardly surprising I am so tired as I didn't crawl into bed until 4 a.m. this morning and was awake at 6.30. But I persevered and closed my eyes again and the next time I opened them it was 9.30.

But why am I so tired today you may ask? Last night Sarah, Lee, the kids and I went up to Aycliffe to visit Ben and Nikki.

It was a family get-together haha.

Sarah had made food (Chilli Concarnie) that looked lovely but far too spicy for me, so a hard pass on that, then Nikki offered me a slimmer's world meal that she had made, which again looked delicious, but she had used cummin a little heavy-handed for my delicate taste buds so another pass. I ended up having two slices of margarita pizza which one of the children had left haha.

As you can see the children thoroughly enjoyed their meal haha. I actually got to eat Robyn's leftover pizza slices.

After dinner, we sat outside until it started to rain then spent the rest of the evening laughing and talking.

However, as I was the designated driver, and there are only so many mugs of coffee you can drink, I was losing the will to live as we entered into the early hours of the morning and so I eventually called a halt to the festivities around 3.30.

It didn't take me long to deliver everyone home and I was soon speeding towards my little bed.

I have no doubt that when I sit down to watch a film which I have had lined up for tonight I may not see the end of it haha.

It was Sue's turn to host Sunday Lunch today and when I got back I decided that I would dig out my large travelling rucksack and begin my packing for my holidays.

I had put piles of various clothes around the bedroom over the last week and now it is neatly packed away.

I know it is slightly early to be thinking of packing but Sarah has already done her packing as she is working full time and has to pack for four on the other hand I have all the time in the world really but I wanted to get in on the act, makes the holiday feel closer. We are not flying out to Crete until the 15th of August, but you can never be too early being prepared for the off haha.
