Over last weekend it was the Great British Garden Bird Watch for the RSPB. It is something which I have taken part in for a good few years now.
So, on Saturday afternoon I armed myself with the tally sheet from the website and settled in with a coffee for an hour of bird-watching in my garden.
After the hour was up I went online and uploaded the results from the Hullah jury haha.
I have to say, over the hour I sat there I only counted 9 birds in the garden which is a
very poor show.
Compared to the numbers and types of birds which usually visit my garden at the Jungalow. I was really quite upset to see the garden looking so desolate
Even the fact that I have many bird feeds hanging from my big Rowan tree this didn't seem to entice them in.
However, the website is telling me that 34 million garden birds have disappeared over the last 2 or 3 years, which is a little worrying and seems to reinforce what I found on my bird watching.
Another thing which I pledged my time for this week was the Big Help Out which is going to run from the 7th until the 9th of June this year.
It is a nationwide initiative that sees people from all over the country volunteering to do something for others in their community.
In April they will launch an app which will tell you the different things you can be involved in.
So you choose the date and the amount of time you can spare.
There are all sorts of categories from the arts to pets you can get involved in.

Now for an update on my brilliant log-burning stove. Since putting in the stove in mid-December, I have not needed to run the heating so much in the rest of the Jungalow. Although I have not had the burner on every day I have already saved £58 in gas usage from installation in December to the end of January, so I am super pleased with that. The logs are working out at around £30 per month, so taking that into consideration that's still £28 per month I am saving and to be honest I have never been so toasty warm, with the added bonus of a living fire to watch and cosy up to.
On Wednesday night Sarah and I went out for something to eat and a good few gins early doors, so it was more like teatime haha. We decided on the Old Tapas Bar in Bondgate with the intention of eating our meal and then hitting a few pubs and bars along the strip.
However, because the night was so awful we decided that we would stay put in the tapas restaurant bar for our drinks. 5 gin and lemonades later, Lee picked us up and brought me home. I am in the process of arranging another meal out but this time with both of my children.
My final outing this week was on Thursday to see Mr Hitiris a Neurology Consultant at the Memorial Hospital. What a nice man with the best touch typing skills I have seen for quite some time. He typed everything I said without looking at the keyboard or losing eye contact with me, very impressed, in fact, I told him so haha.
This appointment has been 10 months in the waiting haha. Well, after a good few questions and examinations of my reflexes and following his pen around with my eyes, it was concluded that I needed further investigations. Namely, an MRI scan of my head and neck to look for wear and tear, a trip to the eye department to check on my double vision and finally a trip to another hospital in Middlesborough for an electrical exam to check the nerves in my arms. All of this will be taking place within the next 6 to 12 weeks, but I have waited this long so far so no worries.
This is an intriguing poem to be sure. Read it one way from top to bottom and then read it again from bottom to top. The author of this poem is so clever.
